Purpose: To guide couples preparing for marriage.
Responsibilities: To help couples live out God’s plan for their marriage through the Prepare/Enrich Inventory. Marriage mentors are couples who are motivated and excited to help guide the newly engaged couples through the challenges of beginning a new life together. The primary goal of marriage mentoring is to help equip couples for a Christ-centered marriage by teaching them vital skills in communication and conflict resolution and by sharing their own faith and life experiences.
Time Commitment: Marriage mentors meet with two to three newly engaged couples throughout the year.
Meeting Frequency and Time: Each mentoring scenario requires meetings once per week for 4-6 weeks. Each meeting is approximately 2 hours.
Additional Time Requirements: Twice per year there is a retreat for the mentoring couples to continue their training in theology, mentoring practices, prayer and group support and to reflect on their own marriage.
Additional Requirements: Training in theology and mentoring practices. Self-reflection on their own marriage.
