K- 4th Grade
A calendar for the year is available online at www.sacredheartwaseca.org
Classes meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Sacred Heart School.
Hello! My name is Marijo Fischer. I am the Kindergarten-Grade 4 Faith Formation Coordinator. I am also a full time 2nd grade teacher at Sacred Heart School. I am excited to share this year with your child(ren) and you. I am hoping to become acquainted with them better as the weeks pass. One of my goals is to help the catechists teach and reinforce prayers, and to guide the children in their “Call to Faith” lessons each week. We will also have a weekly gospel study that your child will bring home and share with you. There may be weeks that we ask for a little “simple” homework to be completed. I am looking forward to helping the second grade students with their preparation for First Reconciliation in December, and their First Eucharist in early May following Easter.
I am very grateful for the wonderful catechists that have come on board this year: Doreen White (my mom) and Cindy Rieck in K/1, Marijo Fischer and Christine Miller in grade 2, Cathy Eldeen in grade 3, and Matt Johansen in grade 4. They have been planning and organizing for quite some time to make this a rewarding year for our children.
The beginning of our Faith Formation classes was exciting! It is always nice to meet and greet families, and the sunny, smile-filled faces of the children. During the first several classes the catechists will teach and inform the children about the “Circle of Grace.” Each of the catechists will teach this curriculum.
One very important rule I have for our families is for the parents to drop off and pick up their children at the individual grade level classrooms. I believe that this makes a positive connection between the family and the catechist. It is also safer than letting the children leave after class unattended. I thank you for your cooperation. All of the grades will all be on the first floor this year. Please pick up and drop off your child at their classroom door. Thank you.
The month of October is often devoted to Mary, the mother of Jesus. During this month, we honor Mary in prayers and rituals for the very special role she played. Take the time to talk with your child about Mary. Recall her deep faith and her willingness to follow God’s will. You may want to set a family goal to pray the Rosary at least once a week during the month of October. This would be a very special way to celebrate our Holy Mother.
The children will study VIRTUES in their classes. The primary focus this year is the virtue of STUDY. The theme for September is HOPE. The October theme is STUDIOUSNESS. Have a great month! Enjoy the autumn wonders.
Yours truly in Christ,
Mrs. Marijo Fischer
